Windows XP has a built in fax feature to send and receive faxes. Of course, you need a modem in your computer system and a phone line, but this is news to me. I wish I knew it was here when I was trying to send stuff off to the UK. I was scanning and emailing documents, which worked just fine and all, but it's good to know it's built right into Windows.
In XP, you'll find it under START/ALL PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then COMMUNICATION, then look for FAX.
If you run the little configuration, it sets it up so that you open a document then hit print, then select FAX as if it were a printer, it's a print driver. Pretty cool to have just discovered it.
